Our mission

SecondCityTimes covers daily local Chicago news focused on what actually affects life in the city. Our editorial process is built around one question: what does a Chicagoan actually need to know today? We skip the national wire noise and stay focused on the block-by-block stories that shape how the city works, eats, moves, and changes.

Coverage area

Chicago is one city with dozens of distinct communities. We cover all of them — Chicago's 77 neighborhoods — alongside a citywide beat that tracks the stories affecting the whole city, from the City Council floor to the lakefront trail system.

Sourcing policy

SecondCityTimes is an aggregator: every published article links back to the originating outlet, and attribution to the original source is shown on each story. We do not invent quotes, fabricate attribution, or paraphrase in ways that misrepresent the source. When a story breaks across multiple outlets, the originating source is credited in the article meta and in the "More coverage" section below the body of each story.

Corrections process

When we get something wrong, we correct it — promptly and prominently. Corrections are noted on the affected article and the original record is updated. To flag an error, email the contact line below; corrections sent to that address are reviewed same-day.
